ABOUT us

theauditionFAM provides unique, collaborative and bespoke audition training for actors seeking successful entry to drama school and youth programmes, such as the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. This is aimed at actors aged 14 and over, there is no age limit.

Founded and led by owner, Misheck Albert Freeman (RADA BA Hons in Acting), theauditionFAM endeavours to coach and encourage actors to trust their instincts, make strong choices, and to find the truth within imaginary circumstances.

Misheck started this initiative in order to give our actors the tools to build their confidence and understanding of the craft, in such a demanding and competitive industry. theauditionFAM is dedicated to empowering and uplifting the actors of tomorrow.

Often we are asked why we are called theauditionFAM - FAM is simply the owner’s initials in reverse. Additionally, we are building a community where we can all grow and support each other. So, welcome to the FAM.

Misheck has an impressive résumé, having received vocational training and graduating with a degree from world-leading drama institution, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). He is trained and highly-skilled in teachings from Konstantin Stanislavski, Sanford Meisner, and he is well-versed in classics such as Shakespeare, Jacobean plays, Chekov and more. His approach to text is forensic, and microscopic, having learned to master text analysis through the works of Charles Dickens, George Orwell and Leo Tolstoy, just to name a few.

During his time at RADA, Misheck embarked on a vast plethora of plays, such as Anatomy of a Suicide by Alice Birch, Metamorphoses by Laura Lomas, Sabrina Mahfouz and Sami Ibrahim, Sticks and Stones by Vinay Patel, Pericles and A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Shakespeare, The Recruiting Officer by George Farquhar, Elektra by Euripides, and The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekov. From ancient Greek classics, to restoration comedy, and modern drama, Misheck has explored and gained an appreciation for all genres of theatre.

His expertise extends to stage combat, dramaturgy, movement and voice (including accent and speech system analysis), Alexander technique, acting for screen, actor’s history, Kabuki theatre, African theatre, classical period dance, singing, voiceover, motion-capture and more.

Misheck has also worked in film alongside established British actors such as Toby Jones and Saskia Reeves in an exhibition that premiered at the Tate Britain, titled “Nurses Come And Go, But None For Me”, by Ed Atkins.

Additionally, Misheck is a member of NYT and a Creative Leader, who completed a summer Senior Course and Creative Leaders programme as a professional, where he received specialist training on facilitating workshops, encouraging inclusivity and growing as a leader. He has also been on a number of audition panels, utilising his wealth of experience and knowledge to discover upcoming emerging talent. Having experienced both sides of the audition process, Misheck has a unique understanding of what is required and expected to present yourself in the way you feel most comfortable on stage and/or screen.

Above all, Misheck founded theauditionFAM in order to educate and teach actors in a safe but brave space, who are in the position he once was in. With all the knowledge he has gained and skills he has acquired in his craft, his aim is to encourage, motivate and uplift auditionees.

The audition process is a demanding and rigorous period, which can span for several months, leaving actors on an emotional rollercoaster. theauditionFAM therefore seeks to build up our actors’ self-esteem and confidence, so that they can go out and obtain the offers they dream of, in the best mindset they can.
